What happens

The question everybody asks
Not if the dose is right. A frozen face is what happens when too much is injected at once, into too few points, by someone who did not study how that particular face moves.
Our approach is deliberately conservative, especially with first-time patients. We start with a lower dose than the maximum for your area, review you at two weeks, and add more only if you want a stronger result. Adding units is easy. Waiting three months for too much botox to wear off is not.
You should still be able to show expression. The aim is that people tell you that you look well rested, not that they can tell you have had something done.
Botox itself works exactly the same way on every skin tone — it acts on muscle, not on pigment. But the needle still breaks the skin, and that matters more on richer skin.
In Fitzpatrick types IV to VI, any small trauma can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: a faint dark mark at the injection point that can outlast the bruise by weeks. It is not common with botox because the needle is so fine, but it is real, and almost nobody mentions it before treating you.
